Civic Movement "Wake Up!" Skopje was founded in May 2006 and it was officially registered with Skopje Basic Court 1 in May. Wake Up's first activity was the protest organized on 24 May 2006 against the murder of three innocent youngsters in Cair, Skopje 
On 29 May 2006, Wake Up! was officially promoted in the Albanian Theatre in the presence of about 200 guests from the political, cultural, musical and intelctual arena. Also, representatives of the European Union, United States Embassy and NATO attended and welcomed Wake Up! 
Wake Up! held its wider promotion for the citizens of Skopje on 3 June 2006 with a concert in the Old Town with more than 20 artists performing. Wake Up! also supported the Life Rock Concert in Kurshumli An organized the same day. 
During the election campaign, Wake Up! issued a press release calling upon all parties to stop the preelection violence and conduct elections in accordance with the European standards. In cooperation with UNDP, the poject "Wake Up! and say NO to weapons" started on 17 July 2006 and continued until 27 July 2006 aiming to ka pėr qėllim vetėdijėsimin e qytetarėve pėr angazhim nė krijimin e mjedisit mė tė sigurtė. Aktivistėt e Lėvizjės Qytetare ZGJOHU! Shkup do tė shpėrndajnė 9.000 fletushka nė periudhė prej 10 ditėve duke kėrkuar angazhim tė qytetarėve pėr tė ndaluar krimin nė mjedisin tonė. Gjithashtu, aktivistė tė ZGJOHU zhvilluan njė anketim me qytetarėt pėr rreziqet nga pėrdorimi i armėve. Mė pas, mė 15 shtator 2006, ZGJOHU pėrfundoi kėto aktivitete nė bashkėpunim me UNDP me organizimin e tribunave rreth krijimit tė shoqėrisė mė tė sigurtė. 
In the beginning of October, Wake Up! condemned the rhetorics of violence used in the Parliament of Macedonia and invited the political parties to continue with the political dialogue announcing Wake Up! direct engagement in organizing debates on political dialogue. 
On18 May 2006, Wake Up! organized discussions between our Political Leaders and International Community representatives on why the road towards European Union membership can be traveled on with an open dialogue amongst all political factors and institutions. 
We were honored that our guest speakers included: Mr Nikola Gruevski, Prime Minister and President of VMRO-DPMNE, Mr. Ali Ahmeti, President of the Democratic Union for Integration, Mr Vlado Buckovski, President of the Social Democratic Union of Macedonia and Ambassador Erwan Fouéré, European Union Special Representative and Head of the European Commission Delegation to Macedonia. Mr. Arben Xhaferi, President of the Democratic Party of Albanians, had previously confirmed his attendance, but cancelled at the last minute. Wake Up! was also engaged in the preparations for the celebration "Skanderbeg in Skopje" and organized a friendly football match on 26 November 2006 between FC Slloga from Skopje and FC Prishtina from Kosovo, which was attended by more than 4000 people.
