Upon an initiative of Civic
Movement Wake Up!, the first meeting of the coordination body under the motto "United round the
flag" was held on 3 November 2007 in Skopje. Representatives of
Civic Movement Wake Up!, Democratic
Union for Integration (DUI), Party
for Democratic Prosperity (PDP),
National Democratic Union (NDU),
Democratic Union of Albanians (DUA),
National Alternative (NA), legal
experts, and representatives of several NGO’s are members of this body.
The goal of the coordination
body is to build a joint strategy of democratic activities in order to protect
the Albanian national flag following the latest decision of the Constitutional Court
to suspend some provisions from the Law on Communities’ Flags.
The coordination body strongly
disagrees with the decision of the Constitutional
Court and considers that it was a political and
anti-Albanian decision and endangers the achievements of the country in accomplishing
equality between the citizens of Macedonia and risks damaging the
confidence between the communities in our society.
Civil and political
representatives of the Albanians in Macedonia
use this opportunity to remind all that the path of Macedonia
towards united Europe and NATO passes through
Ohrid, i.e. the correct implementation of the letter and spirit of the Ohrid
Framework Agreement.
Therefore, the participants in this body call upon the citizens , central and local institutions, NGOs, media, students, etc, to join us in condemning the ignorance of the multiethnic character of the country as a stabilizing factor by the Constitutional Court, to self-restraint and not to become victims of anti-Albanian conspiracies as well as to support the unified strategy of democratic activities to protect the flag.

Stop murders!
Written by Administrator
Saturday, 29 September 2007
Last night, three young men were shot dead by unknown persons in Skopje. Ramadan Shefki (21),
Faruk Dardhishta (27) and Sulejman Neziri (24) lost their life. Two weeks ago, in another armed incident, 19 year old Baki Arifi from Skopje was killed. We call upon the competent institutions to undertake urgent measures in shading light over these cases and to do their outmost in a crime prevention campaign. Enough with murders in our surroundings, but we are also exhausted by no progress in the investigation and the ignorance of the authorities.
